Types of Kratom Products

Types of Kratom Products

Powder, capsules, extracts, shots, gummies. Here’s what each one actually is and which one to buy based on how you want to use kratom.

Powder

This is the rawest, most direct form. Dried kratom leaves milled to a fine powder, packaged, and shipped. Nothing added.

Pros

  • Lowest cost per gram. You’re paying for the actual product without packaging or processing markup.
  • Most flexible dosing. You can dial in any amount you want.
  • Most options. Every strain we sell is available as powder.

Cons

  • Tastes like a dried plant — bitter and grassy. Most users mix it with juice, brew it as tea, or use the “toss-and-wash” method (powder in mouth, chase with water).
  • Requires a small kitchen scale or accurate measuring spoon for consistent dosing.
  • Not travel-friendly. The bag is bulky and the loose powder is messy.

Best for: daily users, cost-conscious buyers, people who already have a routine.

Capsules

The same kratom powder, just pre-measured into gelatin or vegetable cellulose capsules. Each capsule typically holds 0.5g.

Pros

  • Pre-measured. No scale needed, no measuring, no mess.
  • Travel-friendly. Pop a few capsules in a pill case and go.
  • Tasteless. The capsule shell hides the bitterness completely.
  • Discreet. Looks like any other supplement.

Cons

  • Higher cost per gram than powder. You’re paying for the encapsulation labor and the capsule shells.
  • Slower onset. The capsule has to dissolve before the powder is bioavailable, adding 15-30 minutes versus loose powder.
  • Less flexibility. Adjusting your dose means counting capsules in 0.5g increments.

Best for: beginners, travelers, anyone who can’t get past the taste of powder.

Liquid Extracts

Kratom extract is a concentrated liquid version of kratom alkaloids. Producers extract the mitragynine and other alkaloids from leaf using solvents, then standardize the concentration to a known percentage. The resulting liquid is much stronger per ml than powder is per gram.

Pros

  • Fast onset. Liquid bioavailability is significantly faster than powder or capsule.
  • Pre-measured. A 15ml bottle is one serving, no measuring.
  • Concentrated. Small bottles, easy to carry.
  • Standardized. Reputable extracts list exact mitragynine content.

Cons

  • Much stronger than powder. New users can easily overshoot their dose.
  • More expensive per serving than equivalent powder.
  • Not for daily use. Most experienced users keep extracts for occasional use to avoid building tolerance.

Best for: experienced users who already know their dose with powder.

Liquid Shots

A liquid shot is the same idea as an extract, sold in single-serving bottles. Convenience plus extract potency. Common formats are 10-15ml bottles standardized to a specific mitragynine content.

Pros

  • One-and-done. No measuring, no bottle to manage.
  • Pocket-sized. Travel and event-friendly.
  • Often the easiest format for first-time extract users.

Cons

  • Highest cost per serving of any kratom format.
  • Easy to over-rely on. The convenience can lead to using extracts daily, which builds tolerance fast.

Best for: occasional use, travel, situations where powder isn’t practical.

Tablets, Chewables, Gummies

Solid-format kratom products. The kratom is pressed into tablets or worked into a chewable or gummy form. These are usually a hybrid of powder and extract — pre-measured, tasteless, and faster onset than capsules.

Pros

  • Tasteless or flavored.
  • Discreet.
  • Convenient.

Cons

  • Per-serving cost is high.
  • Quality varies enormously between brands. Make sure the lab report covers the finished product, not just the kratom input.

How to Choose

Match the format to how you’ll actually use kratom:

  • You’re new to kratom and want to try it without commitment. Start with capsules. They’re forgiving on dosage, easy on the palate, and you can stop after one bottle.
  • You’re going to make this a daily routine. Powder. The cost difference adds up fast over a year.
  • You travel, or your routine doesn’t include a measuring spoon. Capsules.
  • You already know your dose and want a fast-onset format for occasional use. Extract or shot.
  • You want the lowest barrier to first try. A sample variety pack.

DinoDose products are not approved by the FDA. 21+ only. Effects vary by individual.
